The Security Card is an item that appears in Half-Life: Alyx. It was originally cut from Half-Life.
Overview
- These cards were to give the player access to several doors.
- They were likely to be picked up in offices or on the corpses of Black Mesa personnel.
- It was finally replaced by the retinal scanner, although both might have been considered to be in use at the same time.
- It was reused in Team Fortress Classic, in the map "Rock2", with a new skin coming in four different colors (red, blue, green, and yellow).
- The keycards were finally incorporated into the series in Half-Life: Alyx. Originally Alyx would have used multiple keycards throughout the game, including a cut puzzle that would have involved retrieving a keycard from Jeff's pocket. In the retail version, however, Alyx just uses two (a blue and a yellow keycard with Slavic writing) to get through the start of Chapter 4: "Superweapon"
